Jobs Board 24 April: Big channel players make key hires

Dell Technologies has appointed Lisa Ergun as the Client Solutions Group (CSG) channel lead for the UK. She will spearhead Dell’s UK CSG channel strategy, enabling partners to “seize opportunities” in key growth areas like AI-powered PCs, sustainable IT solutions and advanced security compliance, said Dell.

She will work closely with Dell’s UK channel lead Ian Heath, and UK SVP and MD Steve Young.

Prior to joining Dell, she was channel sales manager for Platinum 360 Partners at Lenovo UK and Ireland for 13 years. Additionally, she was a founding member of Lenovo’s Women in Leadership UK ERG Group, championing diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives across the organisation.

-Conga, the revenue lifecycle management (RLM) provider, has appointed Dave Osborne as its chief executive officer. Osborne replaces Noel Goggin.

Osborne has over 25 years’ experience in global sales, SaaS, cloud technology, operations, M&A, and transformation planning and execution. Prior to joining Conga, he served as CEO of Caseware, a global provider of cloud-enabled audit, financial reporting, and data analytics solutions. He was also previously president and COO, then CEO, of Virgin Pulse for over six years.

-DXC Technology has made an additional senior appointment within its Insurance Software and Business Process Services arm, with the arrival of Bill Pieroni as global strategy and growth leader.

He brings more than 25 years of experience to DXC. He has held senior roles at IBM, Marsh McLennan, Aon, State Farm, Accenture, and McKinsey. Most recently, he was CEO of ACORD, the standards organisation body for the global insurance industry.

-Provident Data Centers, a division of Dallas-based real estate and investment firm Provident, has appointed Jack Backes as principal strategist, to lead sales and partnership activities.

Backes has served in several high-level positions at major technology firms prior to his return to Provident. At LinkedIn, he was a senior leader within the company’s data centre infrastructure operations, helping oversee strategy and execution across a global fleet of 350,000 servers in five hyperscale facilities.

He served as execution lead for LinkedIn’s "Blueshift" migration onto Microsoft Azure, the largest and most complex cloud migration attempted up to that time, and led AI compute orchestration, configuration, and automation, supporting more than 2m AI workloads daily.

-Google has appointed Kate Alessi as UK managing director. She replaces Debbie Weinstein, who was given a broader remit to oversee Google’s EMEA businesses in December last year.

Alessi will start in June, when she will oversee Google’s 7,000 UK staff, most of whom will be based at the King’s Cross, London headquarters when it opens.

She joined Google in 2010, after working in venture capital and as a management consultant. Most recently, she was based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she worked as Google and YouTube vice president of global production solutions, working on global delivery of the company’s advertising solutions.

-Illumio, the breach containment company, has named George Tenet, the former director of the CIA, to its board of directors.

“George Tenet embodies leadership in the best and most challenging circumstances,” said Andrew Rubin, CEO and founder of Illumio. “His deep understanding of cybersecurity, national security, business, and mission-driven teamwork will be instrumental in advancing our vision during this pivotal time for both Illumio and the industry.

Tenet oversaw the expansion and modernisation of the CIA's Counterterrorist Center, and coordinated critical operations designed to enhance US national security post 9/11.

Following his career in public service, Tenet spent 17 years at Allen & Company, a privately held investment bank in New York. For 12 of those years, he served as chairman of the company.

-Starburst, the data platform for apps and AI, has appointed Jitender Aswani as senior vice president of engineering. Aswani brings more than two decades of experience building and scaling high-performance technical teams, with deep expertise in machine learning, data infrastructure, and cloud technologies.

In his new role, Aswani will lead Starburst’s global engineering organisation and drive innovation across its modern data platform for apps and AI. He will report directly to Starburst CEO and co-founder Justin Borgman.

Most recently, he was vice president of engineering at StarTree, where he led engineering strategy and execution for distributed, multi-cloud real-time analytics platforms. He also served as the acting chief information security officer (CISO), overseeing the company’s security strategy and operations.

Previously, Aswani was head of engineering at Moveworks, leading teams that built AI-powered enterprise solutions. He has also held leadership roles at both Netflix and Meta, where he specialised in data science, security, and infrastructure.

-Exertis has announced the appointment of Hannah Sharma as AV sales director. She brings over a decade of experience at all levels of the supply chain, from manufacturer to distributor and integrator, as well as across multiple departments, including sales, marketing, operations and management.

Her role will be to cultivate strong relationships with vendors to further enhance Exertis' AV proposition, and to provide customers with a comprehensive ecosystem of AV solutions. She will also be collaborating with internal teams to develop strategies for boosting sales and expanding market reach, and implementing data-driven approaches to analyse market trends and optimise sales strategies for maximum impact.

-Barracuda Networks, the cybersecurity company, has named Ketan Tailor as chief customer officer. He has more than 20 years of leadership experience.

Prior to joining Barracuda, Tailor served as vice president of global support at Ping Identity, where he successfully transformed the support function into a “high-growth revenue engine”, and played a critical role in post-merger integration efforts.

-Medius, a provider of AP automation and spend management solutions, has announced the appointment of John Seery as its chief technology officer (CTO), reinforcing its commitment to “accelerating innovation” through AI and driving long-term customer value, it says.

Based in Dublin, Seery will be responsible for driving greater efficiencies within Medius’s technology stack, and ensuring the company continues to implement innovative use of intelligent capabilities, including artificial intelligence and machine learning in its product offerings.

Seery brings nearly three decades of software engineering and technology leadership experience, having held senior roles at Creditsafe, Dun & Bradstreet, and IBM. His expertise spans scaling global teams, leading enterprise cloud migrations, and building secure, compliant, and agile technology environments.
