MSP and enterprise software management services firm Nerdio is holding its annual NerdioCon partner and customer event in Palm Springs this week, fresh from a $500m investment in the company, which has taken its value to the $1 billion unicorn mark. Here’s a first cut of conference news.
In an opening keynote on Tuesday, we were told by Nerdio CEO Vadim Vladimirskiy that this year’s NerdioCon on mainland America was the biggest ever, with 800 delegates in attendance, with the vast majority attending their first NerdioCon, according to a show of hands. The previous two events were held in Cancun, Mexico, and in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
While there is no beach this year, unless you count the sand in the desert, the company is certainly basking in the sun going by its latest growth figures. We were told there had been a 120% jump in the number of MSPs on the firm’s books, since Punta Cana last time, and 300-plus enterprise business system integrators in total had now been signed up too. The company sells different Nerdio MSP and Enterprise products.
Vladimirskiy said recurring revenue had “doubled” in a year, and that Nerdio now “influenced” $350m in Microsoft software revenue. The private company doesn’t reveal its own actual sales or profit figures.
While Nerdio has never ruled out tailoring its software management products for other vendors, the inference from the keynotes on Tuesday was that Microsoft would remain its key focus, including Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365.
The company is said to have released 16 new product releases, with over 200 new features since last year’s event, and more was announced today.
The new Nerdio Manager for Enterprise 7.0 builds on Nerdio’s effort in helping customers manage Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop, with expanded support for Windows 365 and physical endpoints.
Designed to meet growing demand for additional granularity and depth of control, version 7.0 adds advanced tools for planning, migration, automation, and cost optimisation, along with deeper integration with Microsoft Intune to simplify the entire cloud desktop lifecycle.
“The shift to cloud-first computing has introduced new challenges for IT leaders, from cost predictability to security and endpoint management,” said Vladimirskiy. “With Nerdio Manager for Enterprise 7.0, we are introducing the most advanced automation and cost optimisation capabilities yet.”
Nerdio Manager for Enterprise 7.0 extends management for organisations by:
-Accelerating planning and migration with intelligent modelling, app migration tools, and automated workflows that simplify the shift from on-premises infrastructure or existing VDI solutions to Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop
-Increasing visibility into environments with enhanced usage dashboards and Intune Insights that surface critical data across endpoints and cloud desktops
-Enhancing management through built-in remote support, streamlined image management, and granular RBAC controls for secure, efficient administration at scale
-Optimising costs with AI-powered licensing recommendations and usage analytics that help right-size resources and prevent overspending
“Windows 365 is designed to give organisations a seamless, scalable, and secure cloud PC experience,” said Scott Manchester, vice president of product, Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop, at Microsoft. “With Nerdio Manager for Enterprise 7.0, IT teams now have the automation and optimisation tools to accelerate their transition to Windows 365, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness at every stage.”
With this release, Nerdio is also introducing updated pricing and packaging options, including a new pricing model for Windows 365 management, allowing those enterprises managing both Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop greater flexibility across their virtual IT estate.
Joseph Landes, chief revenue officer at Nerdio, told the audience: “Microsoft is the leader in the end user computing market, all the analysts tell us this, this is why we bet on them when we founded the company, and we will continue to reinforce that bet.”
Landes said the firm’s “strategic imperatives” going forward were helping MSPs to “take full advantage” from Microsoft 365, building a “world class channel", expanding the Nerdio Valued Professional programme, improving training and enablement for partners – “train first, sell second”, and increase the number of MSP Training Camps, Enterprise Partner and Customer Training Camps, and Microsoft/Nerdio joint events, globally.
