Jobs Board 16 January: Big channel players make key hires

GlobalLogic, the digital engineering subsidiary of Hitachi, has announced its new president and CEO. Srinivas (Srini) Shanker will take over from Nitesh Banga on 3 February, 2025.

Banga has spent around six years at GlobalLogic, and is now moving on to “expore opportunities outside of the group”, said the firm. GlobalLogic entered the UK market via its acquisition of ECS in 2021. It was itself acquired shortly after by Hitachi, with Banga playing a central role in the transaction.

Shanker joined GlobalLogic in 2023, and has served as chief business officer and head of global industries.

-Serco CEO Mark Irwin has announced his retirement, effective from the end of February, having been in the role since the beginning of 2023. Irwin took over from turnaround specialist Rupert Soames, but has seen the group experience declining revenues lately.

Irwin, who has been with Serco for about 12 years in total, will be replaced by Anthony Kirby, current CEO of the UK and European business, the group's largest division. Kirby has been with Serco since 2017, and has has previously served as group HR director and group COO. Prior to joining Serco, he was HR director at Compass Group.

-Qodea, Europe’s largest dedicated Google Cloud digital transformation partner, has announced the appointment of Alan Paton as CEO.

Qodea saw strong growth in 2024, following the strategic merger between CTS and Appsbroker in 2023, and the recent acquisition of cyber specialist tmc3.

Paton joins Qodea from PWC, where he was an equity partner. Prior to that, he was managing director and FS industry lead EMEA at Google. Before that, he was managing director for financial services at Accenture.

-Cohesity has announced the additions of Dave DeWalt and lieut. general (ret.) HR McMaster to its Security Advisory Council, where DeWalt will serve as chair.

With the council's support, Cohesity will continue to advise customers worldwide on how to keep their data safe from cyber attacks.

DeWalt, is a veteran CEO, advisor and investor. He is the founder and CEO of NightDragon, an investment and advisor firm dedicated to the cyber safety, security, and privacy markets. He is also the former CEO of FireEye and McAfee.

McMaster retired from the US Army after serving thirty-four years, including a tour of duty as the 25th national security advisor of the US.

-Global channel services provider Agilitas IT Solutions has announced the appointment of Angela Whitty as a non-executive director. She has over 30 years of experience in the IT channel industry.

She has held several senior leadership roles at Cisco, where she led UK and European operations, and most recently served as group CEO at Ampito.

-Start Campus, one of Europe’s largest and most sustainable data centre projects, has announced two strategic appointments to its senior leadership team.

Omer Wilson joins as chief marketing officer, and José Luis Arnau is now the head of sales, as the company prepares to break ground on the Portugal campus’ second building, following the operational launch of its first facility.

Wilson brings over 25 years of experience in technology and data centre industries, most recently serving as CMO at Qarbon Technologies, following leadership roles at Digital Realty and Pure Data Centres Group. Arnau joins with more than 30 years of international business experience, most recently as sales director at Digital Realty, where he led negotiations with major telecoms providers, hyperscalers, and enterprise clients.

-Illumio, the breach containment specialist, has announced the appointment of Karl Van den Bergh as chief marketing officer. Van den Bergh brings over 25 years of leadership experience driving innovation, building market-leading brands, and accelerating cloud growth at global technology companies.

At Illumio, Van den Bergh will lead global marketing efforts spanning product, brand, and growth marketing. His focus will include increasing awareness of Illumio’s breach containment platform, showcasing how Illumio zero trust segmentation helps organisations secure hybrid multi-cloud environments.

Most recently, he served as CMO at Gigamon, where he spearheaded a transformative marketing strategy that positioned the company as a “leader” in deep observability, said Illumio, focused on eliminating security blind spots across the hybrid multi-cloud, driving significant growth and boosting brand recognition. Prior to Gigamon, he was the CMO at DataStax, the real-time AI company, and GM analytics cloud at Jaspersoft and Tibco.
