Days after reporting a 10% drop in total annual revenues, and an 8% fall in annual recurring revenues, information management and AI data services provider OpenText has fired its long-term CEO.
The company has seen its sales in the $5 billion ball park zone for some time, and the board obviously wants to see rapid growth in the AI era.
Mark Barrenechea has therefore lost his position as CEO, chief technology officer, and vice chairman of the board. James McGourlay, previously executive vice president, international sales, has been named as interim CEO while the firm looks for a permanent replacement.
McGourlay has been with the company for more than 25 years and has held senior roles in sales, customer operations, IT, technical support, product support and special projects.
OpenText says it will continue to explore “portfolio-shaping” acquisition opportunities that “enhance focus” on the company's core information management for AI business. It also wants to “redeploy capital from non-core assets”, so sell-offs are coming too.
Savinay Berry, another OpenText veteran, has been named as the company’s new chief technology officer.
