Empower kicks off with a focus on cybersecurity

N-able announced three significant cybersecurity updates at its Empower partner conference this week in Berlin, aiming to enhance cyber resilience for the Microsoft Cloud and endpoint security.

CEO John Pagliuca (pictured) opened the conference for 635 attendees with an impassioned keynote, emphasising the primary driver for growth: "...not just security, but security operations and cyber resilience," a market he believes can add 20% to MSPs' bottom line without the need for acquiring new clients.

Coinciding with the conference, the company introduced Adlumin Breach Prevention for Microsoft 365, designed to tackle the rise in identity-based attacks. This solution employs machine learning to detect anomalies in user behaviour, proactively responding to threats such as account takeovers and unauthorised access.

According to a 2024 report by the Cloud Security Alliance, an alarming 95% of organisations experienced cloud-related breaches within an 18-month period, with 99% of those breaches attributed to insecure identities.

Robert Johnston, General Manager at Adlumin, highlighted the increased frequency of identity-targeted cyber threats: "Cybercriminals are increasingly targeting identities, and these identity-based attacks are happening more than you think. This isn't a choice. Businesses need flexible, effective security solutions to survive." The system dynamically adjusts its response based on the severity of the threat, automating actions to quickly mitigate potential breaches.

Secondly, N-able expanded its capabilities within the Microsoft Cloud, including comprehensive Microsoft 365 backup, centralised Windows 365 management, continuous monitoring of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, and advanced email security features.

Mike Adler, Chief Technology and Product Officer at N-able, explained, “A unified platform is more than just integrating tools—it creates an ecosystem where solutions harmoniously protect against breaches, safeguard critical data, and streamline Microsoft 365 management."

Lastly, N-able unveiled a built-in Vulnerability Management feature for its Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) solutions, N-central and N-sight. This capability provides organisations with continuous visibility, rapid prioritisation, and automated remediation of vulnerabilities across all major operating systems, significantly improving IT operational efficiency.

Jim Waggoner, VP of Product Management at N-able, commented, “Our partners are thrilled with our new built-in capabilities to identify vulnerabilities within their applications and operating systems and remediate them, all through the UEM. This feature empowers them to offer enhanced services to their customers and significantly reduce business risk."

According to recent industry reports, cloud identity-related breaches have increased significantly, with identity-based attacks now accounting for nearly 80% of cloud security incidents, highlighting the urgent need for robust identity protection solutions like those introduced by N-able.
