The deal comprises of an initial payment of £8m, which has been funded by Softcat's existing cash, with further contingent payments over the next three years, depending on performance. The transaction does not affect Softcat's previously communicated financial results guidance.
Founded in 2019, Oakland employs around 70 staff, providing services ranging from data strategy and governance, to architecture and engineering, analytics and AI.
In the 12 months to 31 December, 2024, Oakland is said to have generated revenue of around £10m. It is an existing partner of Softcat, and its current leadership team will initially run Oakland as a standalone operating unit.
Graham Charlton, Softcat CEO, said: “Data is one of the biggest opportunities ahead of us as the innovation in technology continues to shift rapidly towards a more automated and AI-driven world. Joining forces with Oakland is a great fit with our strategy and, most importantly, our culture.
Richard Corderoy, Oakland CEO, added: “This partnership marks a significant milestone in our journey, and we’re looking forward to achieving great things together."
